When running cable for cameras, rather than using a wireless link, it is often a very simple and economical solution to use CAT5 cable - similar to telephone extension cable - in conjunction with a baluns unit at each end. This allows you to run four cameras on a single cable, dramatically reducing installation time, and allowing unbroken cable runs of several hundred metres.
The unit shown here takes connections from four cameras (located, for example in a calving shed or a stable block) and combines them all onto a single CAT5 cable. A baluns unit is required at each end of the CAT5 cable (e.g. one at the shed and one in the house where the pictures are being monitored.)The baluns units require no power supply.
